Where: Insights ▸ Engagement, and the How to read sheet of the export Every figure counts recipients’ own visits. Visits by a signed-in member of your organization are never counted (a ). A page stands for one recipient: LatentCast does not follow people across pages. Some figures count pages and some count every time something happened. A page counts once, however often it was opened or played, so a figure about pages tells you how many recipients did something. Page loads, Plays and CTA clicks count every time. On the Engagement page, the small i beside How far recipients went, Page loads and Plays says which is which.

How far recipients went

These five are counted against the same base, the published pages. They are not a strict funnel: a recipient can click the call to action before watching half. View rate is opened out of published. The percentages beside the other stages use the same base.

How they engaged

Retention across the video shows, for each point of the video, the share of playing visits that reached it. A visit that skips ahead counts again from where it lands, so the line can rise after a section people jump to. With few visits the line moves in steps; it smooths out as more come in. A video left running in an open tab starts over by itself. To keep that from inflating Plays, one visit counts as two plays at most.

What the figures do not tell you

  • An opened page is not always a person. Some companies check every link in an incoming mail before the recipient sees it, with tools such as Microsoft 365 Defender Safe Links, Proofpoint or Mimecast. Such a check opens the page, so it counts as opened and as a page load. These checks have not been seen to play a video. When Opened looks high next to Videos played, trust Videos played.
  • Link previews do not count. The preview card that LinkedIn, Slack or Teams shows for a link does not count as an open.
  • A click on an email call to action means the recipient’s mail program opened. It does not mean the mail was sent.
  • A click on a link means the recipient left for your page. What they did there shows up in your own analytics, through the details added to the link (see Viewing pages).
  • A forwarded link counts for the recipient it was made for. If they pass it on, the colleague’s visits land on the same page. Played more than once cannot tell the recipient watching again from a colleague watching for the first time.
  • Seen is not the same as heard. Today every video starts when the recipient presses play, with the sound on, so the two are the same.

Days and dates

Days are counted in your browser’s time zone. A visit late in the evening in one country can fall on the next day in another; the page and the export always use yours. A batch’s is the moment you marked it as sent. A completed batch that is not marked yet is dated by the moment it completed, and a batch still running by the moment it started.
