# Engagement

> How your recipients engaged with the videos you sent: who opened, played, watched, clicked and rated — per campaign, batch or presenter.

**Where:** Insights ▸ Engagement

The **Engagement** (The Insights page that shows how recipients engaged: who opened, played, watched, clicked and rated.) page answers one question: how did the people you sent
videos to respond? It reads what happened on every recipient's
**viewing page** (The personal page a recipient lands on to watch their video. It records what they do there and takes a rating.) and adds it up per campaign, per batch or per presenter.

The page is marked **Beta**. The numbers are real; the way they are shown may still change.

## What you see

**The comparison table comes first.** One row per campaign, batch or presenter, with the funnel from
left to right: **Published**, **Opened**, **Videos played**, **Watched half**, **Clicked CTA**, then
**Avg watched**, **Played again** and **Rating**. Click a column header to sort by it.

**Then the headline figures.** The view rate — how many of your published pages were opened — sits
beside five counts of how far recipients went: published, opened the page, videos played, watched
past half, and clicked the call to action. Below them, four figures: click-to-open rate, average
watched, played more than once, and the average rating.

The small **i** beside *How far recipients went*, *Page loads* and *Plays* explains what each figure
counts, and what your own team and automatic mail checks do to it.

**Then four sections you can fold open.** Each one remembers whether you left it open.

| Section | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Activity over time** | Page loads and plays per day, with a thin line on the day each batch was sent |
| **Retention across the video** | The share of visits that reached each point of the video |
| **Ratings** | The average rating and how many recipients gave each number of stars |
| **Calls to action** | For each kind of call to action, how many of the opened pages got a click |

Every chart has a table view behind the small table icon, if you would rather read the numbers.

[Every figure is defined on its own page](/docs/guides/insights/what-the-numbers-mean.md), in one line each.

## Choosing what to look at

The bar across the top decides which batches the page counts.

* **Date range.** Picks batches by the day they were sent. The chip reads *Sent · Last 30 days* to
remind you. See below for why.
* **Campaigns.** All of them, or the ones you pick.
* **Batches.** **Completed batches** is the default. **Marked as sent** keeps only the batches you
have **marked as sent** (Records when you sent a batch from your own tool, with an optional note. It becomes the batch's send date.). **All batches** includes those still running,
and **Pick batches** lets you choose them one by one.
* **CTA.** All, email or link. It changes the click figures only.
* **Group by.** Campaign, batch or presenter — the rows of the table.

Your choice is kept in the page address, so you can bookmark it or send it to a colleague, and the
page remembers it for the next time you open Insights.

**Download .xlsx** in the top right exports exactly what you are looking at. See
[Exporting to Excel](/docs/guides/insights/exporting-to-excel.md).

## Why the date range picks batches, not days

The date range chooses **which batches** you look at, by their
**send date** (When a batch went out: the moment you marked it as sent, or else the moment it completed.). It does not cut their results to those days: a batch counts
everything its recipients did, however long ago it was sent.

This keeps comparisons fair. A batch sent two days ago has had two days; a batch sent in August has
had weeks. If the page only counted what happened inside the range, the young batch would look weak
and the old one would look dead. Instead, each batch row shows how long ago it went out — *Sent
2026-09-20 · 3 days ago* — so you can read its numbers for what they are.

Only the activity chart and the daily figures are limited to the days in the range.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Mark your batches as sent.** LatentCast does not send your messages, so it cannot know when you
> did. Until you [mark a batch as sent](/docs/guides/campaigns/manifest-and-sending.md#after-you-send), it is
> dated by the moment it completed, which may be days early. The page lists the completed batches
> that are not marked yet.

## Your own team never counts

When you or a colleague opens a recipient's page while signed in to LatentCast, the page shows
**Team view · not counted**. That visit is recorded, but it never counts: not as a view, not as a
click, and a rating you give there never replaces the recipient's. See
[Viewing pages](/docs/guides/campaigns/viewing-pages.md#opening-a-page-yourself).

## Numbers from before 22 September 2026

Visits have been recorded one by one since **22 September 2026**. Before that, each page only kept a
count of views and clicks. Those counts are included, so your earlier batches still show who opened
and clicked. They carry no playback and no dates of their own, and they may include views by your
own team from that time. Watch figures start on 22 September 2026; the playback
sections say so when your selection holds batches sent earlier.

## Keeping it current

The page loads fresh numbers when you open it and whenever you change a filter. It does not update by
itself while you look at it. The line under the filters says when the numbers were loaded, for
example *Updated 2026-09-23 10:41*.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Recommendations are coming.** The **Recommendations** page next to Engagement will turn these
> numbers into suggestions for your next video: its content, its length, its styling and its call to
> action.
